This program is the NRA's response to the American publics need for a firearm orientation program for new purchasers.
New Firearm owners are encouraged to take the "first step" of obtaining training, and the NRA FIRST Steps Program is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation of one specific firearm model.
The class is approximately 3 to 4 hours in length and will provide beginning shooters with an introduction to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to own and use a specific pistol model safely. Upon completion of this course you will be awarded a certificate that will satisfy the training requirement when applying for a concealed handgun permit in VA.
